Dai Pai Dongs in Mong Kok

Tina has been basing her podium designs on the iconic Dai Pai Dongs in Sham Shui Po and other parts of Hong Kong. These small kiosks are prototypical features of Hong Kong: compact, dense, intense, and deeply integrated with the visual language and architecture of the urban fabric.

This "informal" urbanism works in concert with the hanging advertising signs, billboards, and multicolored facades of the street.

Another way of emphasizing the Dai Pai Dongs might be a simple visual technique like this. Be thoughtful about what you show and how you show it. It only takes a few minutes.

In the past, our cities and our civilizations were a drop in an ocean of resources. There was little need for us to think of our systems of consumption and 
waste, as the environment was able to provide an unlimited supply, as well as absorb all of our waste.
